These pictures are a bit out of order... but last week Colt got to go to Boy Scout Day Camp Monday-Thursday from 9am-3pm. He loved it. And Skyler loved getting some alone time with Mom while Heidi napped! We baked, made shrinky dinks, played games, talked, read, it was fun. But back to Colt:
He marked off lots of achievments and electives in his Wolf book, the square knot was his favorite. He's been tying everything into square knots since camp.
A relay in the sports and games included walking on stilts - harder than it looks!
In wood crafts they built a collection box and a bookshelf with a drawer. In this picture he's working on the drawer. They turned out great!
I got to be the Den leader Tuesday, it was fun getting to know the group of boys better and watching them participate in everything. Skyler got to spend the day as an "Outlaw" (or tag-a-long) they have their own camp for kids ages 3 and up who's parent is working at camp. He especially loved the pogo stick and the snacks. Heidi spent the day with Daddy, who took the day off to get some things done around the house.
They earned their fishing and archery belt loops, though Colt was really sad he didn't catch a fish for dinner for the family. He got to fish again on Thursday and said his bait got nibbeled 4 times!
The day I was there the Den assignment was to come up with a Den name and design a flag. The boys decided on "Arrows and Lassos." The next day they came up with a cheer. All I remember is that they howled like wolves at the end of the cheer.
So this was Colt's favorite part after archery and fishing: the egg catapult. Each boy had the week to design something 6inches by 6inches at home that would keep a fresh egg from cracking when flung through the air by the catapult. Colt came up with a great idea and Tom helped him find everything he needed...and we're happy to say his egg survived the catapult!
The theme was "Frontier Days." He's already marked everything off to earn his Bobcat award once scouts starts again after summer break.
And there you have it- Colt's first scout activity. He's going to make a great Cub Scout!
