Taking 7 little monkeys to the Zoo

We had a super fun day at the zoo with our friends - it was an overcast day so the zoo wasn't at all busy, and the animals were mostly easy for even Heidi to spot. We were there 5 hours and left just a minute or so after the first rain drops fell - perfect timing!

Heidi's favorite was anything baby, or anything smallish that passed as a baby.

In order from the hippo's mouth: Skyler, Garrett, Lindsay, Megan, Colt, Heidi. Skyler loved reading the map - even though we got lost several times. Colt brought along a notebook and drew a picture of everything we saw. Even the crows and squirrels.

I mostly took pictures when the kids were all climbing on these animals everywhere - other times we were just busy keeping track of everyone and trying to figure out how to get to the animals they were requesting.

There was an indoor play area with a huge slide and a tree house climbing/slide thing. Heidi thought the little hole in the tree on the puppet theater was soooo funny.

The kids got to participate in a "backyard discovery" and had fun with the magnifying glasses they got to borrow.

The zoo had a special exhibit advertised, Dinosaurs! Skyler was most excited about these dinos - but when we got over there it was an extra fee. With so many in our group we decided to skip it but at the end of the farm area Skyler finally got to see his dinosaur. Colt wanted to badly to see the bats but when we got to the night exhibit it had closed over a year ago due to cost. He was so sad. When I asked the kids what their favorite animals were on the way home Colt replied "the bats." I asked what his 2nd favorite was "the bats." I asked what his 3rd favorite was "the bats." I asked what his favorite was that we actually saw... he replied "Tepig." (his friend's Pokemon toy he brought along.) Skyler's was the dinosaur, Heidi's was the babies. Good thing we went to the zoo to see all those!
